Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and conveyed strong condemnation of the regional escalation following Israeli strikes on Iran.
The prime minister expressed deep concern over attacks on Qatar and other Gulf states. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s complete solidarity and support for Qatar and pledged that Pakistan would stand shoulder to shoulder with the Qatari people in this difficult time.
He assured that Pakistan would continue to play a positive and constructive role for peace and stability in the region. Referring to his recent meeting in Doha, both sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation. The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue efforts aimed at promoting peace in the region.
In a separate telephone call, PM Shehbaz spoke with the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, and expressed grave concern over the situation arising after Israeli attacks on Iran.
He strongly condemned the escalation and conveyed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. The prime minister offered Pakistan’s role in efforts aimed at restoring peace amid the tense situation.
He stated that Pakistan stands ready to play a constructive role for regional peace and reaffirmed continued support for the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.
The prime minister also expressed hope that, with the blessings of the holy month of Ramadan, peace, stability and harmony would soon prevail in the region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had also hold a telephonic conversation with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss the regional matters.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with the UAE Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation, expressed serious concern over recent developments, and agreed to maintain close contact.
