The President of Young Parliamentarians Forum, Punjab Assembly, MPA Amina Hassan Sheikh, had a productive meeting with the Consul General of China, His Excellency Mr. Cao Ke, at the Chinese Embassy in Lahore.
The meeting focused on strengthening Pakistan-China ties, with in-depth discussions on enhancing youth engagement, cultural exchange, and collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Key areas of focus included education, technology, and economic development, with both sides exploring opportunities for joint initiatives and partnerships.
The meeting also touched on the importance of people-to-people connections and parliamentary exchanges, highlighting the potential for greater understanding and cooperation between the two nations. Discussions centered around ways to promote cultural and educational exchanges, including student scholarships, faculty exchanges, and joint research projects through the platform of the Young Parliamentarians Forum which consists of 109 young MPs. Both sides recognized the significance of empowering youth and women, and explored ways to support entrepreneurship and innovation in Pakistan.
The Consul General of China appreciated the efforts of the Young Parliamentarians Forum in promoting youth engagement and leadership in Pakistan. He expressed China's willingness to support Pakistan's development priorities, and highlighted the potential for collaboration in areas such as renewable energy, agriculture, and IT. MPA Amina Hassan Sheikh thanked the Consul General for China's continued support and partnership, and emphasized the importance of strengthening parliamentary ties and cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by Mr Wang Sita, Director Political Affairs Chinese Embassy Consulate Lahore & Mr. Muhammad Kassim Rashid Awan, Consultant Young Parliamentarians Forum Punjab Assembly and concluded with a shared vision for a stronger Pakistan-China partnership, with a focus on youth empowerment, economic growth, and cultural exchange. Both sides looked forward to translating their discussions into concrete actions, and exploring new avenues for collaboration in the days ahead.
