The International Cricket Council has begun reviewing emergency plans in light of rising tensions in the Middle East.
An ICC spokesperson said the situation in the region is under close observation. The council stated that the safety and well-being of all individuals associated with the event remain its foremost priority.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, currently under way in India and Sri Lanka, has not been directly affected by developments in the Middle East. However, the council noted that a considerable number of players, team officials, match referees, broadcast personnel and event staff rely on Gulf transit hubs, particularly Dubai, for onward travel after completing their commitments.
The ICC confirmed that comprehensive contingency measures concerning travel and administrative arrangements linked to the World Cup have been put into effect.
The travel and logistics team is working with major international airlines to secure alternative routes, including connections through European, South Asian and South-East Asian hubs.
Security consultants are in contact with relevant authorities and a dedicated ICC Travel Support Desk has been established to assist stakeholders.
The ICC added that a detailed alternative plan is being prepared to safeguard all stakeholders. The travel team is also examining substitute routes to ensure safe movement where required.
The council reiterated that it remains committed to the orderly and secure conclusion of the tournament.
