US President Donald Trump confirmed that joint US-Israeli military operations in Iran are underway, targeting what he called “imminent threats” from Tehran to protect the American people.
President Trump emphasized that the objective of the operation is to safeguard US citizens. “Short time ago, US military began major combat operation in Iran. Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating threats from the Iranian regime,” he said.
He described the strikes as a necessary measure to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, while highlighting that all efforts are being made to minimize risks to Americans in the region.
Warnings and assurances
Trump addressed potential casualties, acknowledging that they are possible but reiterated that US forces are working to reduce risks. He also directed a message to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), urging them to surrender and promising they would be treated well if they do so.
The president stressed the mission’s strategic focus: ensuring Iran cannot threaten the United States or its allies, particularly with nuclear capabilities.
