Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Israel remains the only country in the region seeking war.
Speaking prior to his departure for Geneva, Araghchi said Iran had deliberately restricted the range of its missiles to 2,000 kilometres. He said Tehran was not producing weapons capable of reaching the United States.
He added that President Trump had fallen victim to “fake news” regarding Iran’s intentions. The foreign minister said Iran’s desire lay not in preparing for war but in preventing it. He said that the country would not seek to acquire nuclear weapons.
Araghchi said Iran remained determined to reach a fair agreement with the United States. He maintained that Iran could not be compelled to surrender through threats.
He stated that Tehran stood prepared for both war and peace, but emphasised that its preference rested with stability and dialogue.
