England secured a dramatic victory over the Pakistan national cricket team in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight clash on Tuesday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, thanks to a scintillating century from captain Harry Brook.
England successfully chased down Pakistan’s target of 165 runs, sealing the win with two wickets to spare and booking their place in the semifinals.
After Pakistan posted 164/9 batting first, with Sahibzada Farhan top‑scoring with 63, England’s chase got off to a shaky start as Phil Salt was dismissed on the first ball.
Brook then took charge, anchoring the innings with an aggressive and calculated knock, reaching a brilliant century that featured powerful strokes and smart shot‑making under pressure. His innings put England firmly in control despite periodic resistance from the Pakistani bowlers and occasional lapses in the field.
Brook’s leadership with the bat proved decisive, especially after early setbacks and sporadic team contributions. The victory not only kept England’s momentum strong in the tournament but also highlighted Brook’s rising stature as a key performer on cricket’s biggest T20 stage.
Earlier, Pakistan posted a challenging total of 165 runs for England cricket team.
Opening batter Sahibzada Farhan once again led Pakistan’s charge, anchoring the innings with a well‑timed half‑century. Farhan scored 63 runs, showing aggressive intent with his stroke play and keeping Pakistan in the game even as wickets fell at the other end.
