Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was briefly evacuated from The Lodge on Tuesday evening following a reported security alert, before returning several hours later after authorities found no threat.
According to ABC News, the incident prompted a major police response and the prime minister was moved to a secure location as a precaution.
The Australian Federal Police said officers responded to an alleged security incident at around 6 p.m. local time but did not disclose specific details.
In a statement, police confirmed that a comprehensive search of the protected site was carried out and no suspicious items were discovered. Authorities added that there is no ongoing risk to the public or community safety.
