Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has firmly denied claims that Aleema Khan ever asked him to resign from the party’s chairmanship.
He also voiced disappointment over Sher Afzal Marwat’s recent television interview, urging party members to avoid further controversy.
Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar clarified that Aleema Khan never sent him any message asking him to step down.
He emphasized that she never interfered in matters related to the party chairmanship nor gave any indication that she wished to assume the role herself.
Gohar’s remarks come amid internal discussions within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf regarding party leadership.
Disappointment over Marwat’s interview
The PTI chairman also addressed comments made by Sher Afzal Marwat during a recent television interview.
Gohar said he was disappointed by the interview, noting that Marwat had previously promised to avoid controversial discussions. He stressed that attacking personalities on television channels is not an appropriate approach.
He reiterated his appeal to party members to refrain from engaging in unnecessary public controversies.
Clarification on party elections
Barrister Gohar further clarified the timeline of PTI’s internal elections.
He stated that party elections were held on March 3, 2024, and the required documents were submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan on April 10.
According to him, the party was awaiting the official certificate in April 2024. He described the ongoing discussion surrounding the issue as unjustified.
Gohar once again urged all party members to avoid fueling further controversy.
He maintained that unity within the party remains essential and emphasized the need to move forward without engaging in divisive debates.
