US President Donald Trump raised the global tariff from 10 per cent to 15 per cent, disregarding a ruling of the Supreme Court.
According to American media reports, Trump said the US government was taking action against unfair trading nations and that the new duties would be enforced through lawful means in the coming months.
He said he was increasing the global tariff to 15 per cent, adding that the purpose of raising duties was to make America great again. The new tariffs, he said, would be imposed in a lawful and fully legitimate manner.
On the other hand, the US president has termed the Supreme Court’s decision as laughable, poorly written and deeply anti-American. He said the tariff limit was entirely lawful and well tested, adding that before he assumed office several countries had been taking unfair advantage of the United States.
