Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a series of important engagements during his visit to the United States, including informal meetings with several world leaders at the inaugural session of the Board of Peace.
The high-level interactions focused on regional developments, global peace efforts, and expanding mutual cooperation.
Prime Minister Sharif is in Washington at the invitation of US President Donald Trump to attend the inaugural session of the Board of Peace. On the sidelines of the session, the prime minister held informal meetings with a number of prominent leaders.
He met with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The prime minister also held informal discussions with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

During these meetings, leaders discussed the regional situation, global peace initiatives, and ways to promote mutual cooperation. The interactions were marked by warmth and friendly exchanges.
PM meets CEO of Development Finance Corporation
In a separate engagement, Prime Minister Sharif met with the CEO of the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), Benjamin Black. Head of Investment Connor Coleman and other senior members of the agency’s leadership were also present at the meeting.
The prime minister lauded DFC’s portfolio of over $1 billion and praised its role in mobilizing joint ventures between private entities.
Call for increased financing
During the meeting, Shehbaz urged the DFC to enhance financing for projects in energy, mining, agriculture, and information technology. He highlighted the synergy between the economic priorities of Pakistan and the United States and emphasized the importance of expanding investment cooperation.

The prime minister also invited the DFC to participate in the upcoming Minerals Conference to be held in Islamabad.
Interest in expanding investment
Black expressed the DFC’s desire to increase its investment footprint in Pakistan. He reiterated that the DFC is ready to support economic development in partner countries, signaling openness to deeper collaboration with Islamabad.
The discussions underscored Pakistan’s push to attract greater foreign investment while strengthening its economic ties with the United States.
