Pakistan and China have agreed to enhance their cooperation against terrorism and to advance the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) without obstacles, during the seventh round of their strategic dialogue.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s comprehensive measures against terrorism and the protection of Chinese nationals and projects.
The joint communiqué emphasized that the Afghan regime must take verifiable steps to ensure that its territory is not used against any other country. The dialogue also focused on boosting collaboration in key areas including Gwadar Port, the Karakoram Highway, sustainable development, technology, and cybersecurity.
China reiterated its commitment to respecting Pakistan’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. The two countries agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and investment in defense, economy, and trade.
In the seventh round of the Pakistan-China dialogue, both sides affirmed a zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and pledged to enhance security cooperation. Strategic relations will be further strengthened, with a focus on fostering mutual trust.
The joint statement underscored the importance of eliminating all terrorist organizations operating from Afghan soil and ensuring they are not used against other countries. China appreciated Pakistan’s comprehensive anti-terrorism measures and recognized the sacrifices made to protect Chinese nationals and projects.
Pakistan reiterated its unwavering commitment to the One-China policy, reaffirming support for China on Taiwan, the South China Sea, and Hong Kong. China reiterated its support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation for mutual interests and socio-economic development.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which will be celebrated with events aimed at consolidating the “ironclad” friendship and promoting new areas of cooperation. Both nations described themselves as enduring strategic partners, highlighting that strong bilateral ties are crucial for regional peace, stability, and development.
The joint communiqué also emphasized high-level contacts as a key feature of bilateral relations and agreed to prioritize implementing a five-year action plan and building a joint Pakistan-China community.
Coordination in development projects will be strengthened, with industry, agriculture, and minerals designated as key sectors in CPEC’s next phase. Cooperation will also expand in Gwadar Port, sustainable development, and cybersecurity.
The Khunjerab Pass will remain open year-round to facilitate trade and people-to-people exchanges. Both countries agreed on cross-border water resource collaboration and expressed satisfaction over progress in space cooperation, with Pakistani astronauts expected to join China’s space station soon. The next strategic dialogue is scheduled to be held in Islamabad next year.
