Even after Bangladesh’s announcement of not sending its team to India for the T20 World Cup, the Indian government’s stubborn and unyielding behaviour continues.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also rejected calls to move the scheduled matches, arguing that changing venues would create administrative chaos.
The board stated that teams’ hotel bookings and flight tickets are already confirmed and that venues cannot be altered based on personal preferences or requests.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had formally announced its decision not to send the team to India, citing security concerns for its players. A BCB spokesperson said the decision was made after an emergency meeting of the board of directors and in consultation with the government.
“Taking this step is unavoidable to ensure the safety of players and officials,” the statement said. “Under these circumstances, the Bangladesh team will not travel to India for the tournament. We have requested the ICC to shift the matches to another country.”
The matter highlights ongoing tensions between the boards and governments regarding security and logistics ahead of the T20 World Cup.
