The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reported that over 70 per cent of households now use internet services, compared with only 34 per cent in 2019.
According to details surfaced on Saturday, the digital connectivity and internet use in Pakistan have recorded a marked rise, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The PTA welcomed the findings of a survey released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, which indicate a broad expansion in digital connectivity across the country.
The survey reported that more than 96 per cent of households have access to a mobile phone or smartphone.
At the household level, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leads the country with 77 per cent digital access. The PTA described this progress as a matter of pride for the Government of Pakistan and the regulator.
The PTA said that on an individual basis, mobile and smartphone ownership has reached 50 per cent. Nationwide, 92 per cent of individuals use mobile phones.
"Internet use has also increased significantly. In 2025, internet usage reached 57 per cent, up from just 17 per cent in 2019."
Overall, internet use among women and men stands at the same level. In urban areas, however, internet use among women exceeds that of men. The survey records internet usage of 71 per cent among urban women, compared with over 67 per cent among urban men.
The survey also pointed to improved digital awareness and safer online practices. A clear improvement in the digital skills of the public has been observed, the PTA said.
