The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened the new year on a positive note, with trading beginning firmly higher on the first day.
According to details surfaced on Thursday, at the start of business, the market gained 383 points. The KSE-100 index rose by 383 points to reach 174,438. Meanwhile, on the final day of 2025, a slight decline was recorded in the value of the US dollar in the currency markets.
According to the State Bank, the dollar fell by three paisa in the interbank market and closed at Rs280.12. Currency dealers said that over the past 70 days the dollar has been easing by one or two paisa in the currency markets. In the open market, the selling rate of the dollar stood at Rs281.15.
It is pertinent to note that both global and local gold markets are showing a downward trend in gold and silver prices. The price of 24-carat gold per tola fell by Rs2,500 to Rs456,962, while the price of 10 grams of gold declined by Rs2,143 to Rs391,771.
