China opposes any attempt to split territories in Somalia, the foreign ministry said on Monday, affirming Chinese support for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the East African country.
"No country should encourage or support other countries' internal separatist forces for its own selfish interests," ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told reporters at a regular press conference, urging authorities in Somaliland to stop "separatist activities and collusion with external forces".
Israel became the first country on Friday to formally recognise the self-declared Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state, seeking immediate cooperation with Somaliland in agriculture, health, technology, and the economy.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would seek immediate cooperation with Somaliland in agriculture, health, technology and the economy. In a statement, he congratulated Somaliland's president, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, praised his leadership and invited him to visit Israel.
Netanyahu said the declaration "is in the spirit of the Abraham Accords, signed at the initiative of President Trump."

Meanwhile, Pakistan reaffirmed its full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar received a telephone call from the Somalian foreign minister, Abdisalam Abdi Ali. The two leaders discussed matters relating to Somalia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and stability.
Dar condemned all actions that undermine Somalia’s stability and reiterated Pakistan’s complete and unwavering support.
The Somali foreign minister thanked Pakistan for its consistent diplomatic support and requested assistance in raising Somalia’s concerns at the United Nations Security Council. Dar assured him that Pakistan would continue to support Somalia at the United Nations and other multilateral forums.
