Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said on Friday that the artificial intelligence (AI) is the new engine of Pakistan’s economic power.
Addressing the AI Rise Pakistan Expo 2025, Iqbal said Pakistan is being digitised under the E-Pakistan pillar of the Uraan Pakistan programme. He said the government is working to advance Pakistan in the space sector.
"Pakistan is making sustained efforts to progress in the space domain. New centres for quantum computing, nanotechnology and advanced manufacturing are being established," Iqbal maintained.
He said quantum technology will determine global competitiveness in the future, adding that the Quantum Valley Pakistan will serve as the hub of the country’s deep-tech economy.
“Our goal is to equip Pakistan with technology and turn it into a competitive nation,” Iqbal said. He maintained only nations that lead in technology will guide the global economy.
"Under the Uraan Pakistan vision, the E-Pakistan strategy has been finalised. Exports, the digital economy and innovation are the pillars of Uraan Pakistan," he said.
The planning minister was of the view that the robotics is essential for modernising industries in Pakistan.
"Satellite technology is strengthening the sectors of food, trade and communications. Work is under way to link university research with industry and exports," the planning minister maintained.
