China has said that it is ready to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in the media sector, to strengthen mutual understanding and support the development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks during a regular press briefing while responding to a question about the recently held 9th CPEC Media Forum.
He said China remains committed to enhancing cooperation with Pakistan across media and various other fields to promote sound public opinion for robust bilateral relations.
Media seen as key to advancing CPEC 2.0
Lin Jian noted that participants at the forum highly appreciated the development achievements of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and stressed the need for closer media collaboration between the two countries.
He emphasized that stronger media exchanges can help carry forward the long-standing friendship and strategic partnership between China and Pakistan.
The spokesperson said the 9th CPEC Media Forum was successfully held on December 24. The forum was hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and jointly organized by China Economic Net and the Pakistan-China Institute.
Representatives from the Chinese and Pakistani governments, media organizations, and think tanks participated in the event.
The forum was conducted in a hybrid “online + offline” format and brought together around 200 participants from both sides. Senior officials, along with representatives from media, think tanks, and other sectors, attended the video forum.
The theme of the forum was 'Strengthening Media Cooperation to Promote the ‘2.0 Upgraded Version’ of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor'.
In-depth discussions on media cooperation
Participants held extensive and in-depth discussions on how to deepen China-Pakistan media cooperation amid the current international situation. Both sides underlined the importance of coordinated media efforts in shaping accurate narratives.
They unanimously expressed hope that the media would continue to act as “messengers” of friendship and understanding.
Forum participants stressed that media outlets from both countries should vividly tell the stories of China-Pakistan cooperation, comprehensively highlight bilateral achievements, and promptly refute false news.
They agreed that such efforts would contribute meaningfully to advancing the construction of CPEC 2.0 and strengthening bilateral trust.
“China and Pakistan are iron-clad friends and always strategic cooperative partners,” Lin Jian said. He added that China is ready to work with Pakistan to accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
