Renowned business figure Arif Habib has said that everyone in the country wants political differences to be resolved through dialogue, and all stakeholders and political parties should work in that direction.
Speaking on the program “Nadeem Malik Live,” the Chairman of Arif Habib Group stated that within their group, discussions are held about meetings between business leaders and the Prime Minister as well as the Field Marshal.
He added that they also talk about meeting the founder of PTI and would continue to do so in the future. He emphasized that efforts should also be made to improve relations with neighboring countries.
Arif Habib further said that his group is interested in purchasing the remaining 25 percent shares of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). He noted that various options are under consideration and a decision would be made within the stipulated timeframe.
He recalled that their proposal was for the government to sell 100 percent of the shares. He added that Fauji Fertilizer would also be part of the PIA acquisition, and if their group holds 40 percent shares, Fauji Fertilizer could acquire 39.9 percent.
He stressed that the primary objective should be to improve airline services for the public. He pointed out that PIA currently operates on limited routes, and expanding these would improve facilities for passengers. He said that flights are often not readily available, but by improving operations, better services could be provided.
Meanwhile, during the same program, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani said that negotiations with PTI had started at one point, but the party walked out. He added that a tweet posted by the PTI founder 10 to 12 days ago is still difficult to digest. He further alleged that PTI has become an obstacle in the fight against terrorism.
