The Punjab police have finalised a Christmas security plan for the provincial capital.
According to details surfaced on Wednesday, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that the deployment will include 12 SPs, 36 SDPOs, 109 SHOs and 311 upper subordinates performing security duties.
A total of 622 churches in Lahore have been divided into A, B, C and D categories. Security arrangements have been put in place for 59 A-category and 84 B-category churches, while 378 C-category and 101 D-category churches will also remain under police protection.
The CCPO said 22 teams of the PRU, 41 teams of the Dolphin Squad, nine teams of the Elite Force and nine teams of special squads will perform duties during Christmas.
For the security of Christian citizens, CCTV cameras, metal detectors and walk-through gates will be installed at churches. Female police officers will be specially deployed to ensure the safety of women and children.
The CCPO said comprehensive security arrangements have been made for churches in Lahore and directed that full attention be given to the security of Christian places of worship, parks and recreational spots.
