Power Minister Awais Leghari on Tuesday credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the successful Rs135 billion bid for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
He said the Rs135 billion bid for PIA by the Arif Habib Consortium marked a major outcome of the government’s reform programme and reflected renewed investor confidence in Pakistan’s economy.
Leghari said the development was the result of the leadership and commitment of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Privatisation Adviser Muhammad Ali, and the support and guidance of Field Marshal Asim Munir. He said their combined efforts brought the privatisation process to completion.
He added that the transaction showed growing confidence among international businesses in Pakistan and opened a new phase of efficiency and improvement for national institutions.
