Prominent businessman Arif Habib, after acquiring PIA, issued a statement saying that PIA’s revival would benefit the Pakistani economy and attract foreign investors towards Pakistan.
Speaking exclusively to Samaa, Arif Habib said that, in his view, today marked a victory for Pakistan. “Alhamdulillah, this will encourage investment in the country. PIA is our national institution. Alhamdulillah, PIA has seen better days. PIA has been the second best airline in the world,” he added.

He stated that PIA’s staff were highly competent. The airline has eighteen aircraft, of which fourteen are operational. In the first phase, the number of PIA’s aircraft would be increased to 38, and in the second phase, the fleet would rise to 65.
Arif Habib said that later, according to demand, the number of aircraft would be further increased. The airline’s personnel would be entrusted with responsibility, their expertise would be utilised, and the services of experienced and skilled PIA staff would continue. There were also possibilities of the Fauji Fertilizers Group joining them.
