The city is set to receive light rain on December 21 and 22, according to the Meteorological Department, bringing a fresh wave of cold across the provincial capital.
Residents are advised to prepare for cloudy skies and cooler temperatures in the coming days.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that Lahore will experience intermittent light rain over the next two days. The showers are expected to slightly reduce the intensity of the lingering dry winter but will also usher in cooler conditions.
Experts say that the drizzle will be accompanied by partly cloudy to overcast skies, creating a typical winter chill in the city.
Westerly winds to intensify cold
A series of westerly winds are entering Balochistan and are likely to move towards Punjab. According to the Meteorological Department, these winds will increase the intensity of cold in Lahore, adding to the winter chill brought by the incoming rain.
Deputy Director of the Meteorological Department, Irfan Virk, noted that while Karachi will see only mild cold and drizzle, cities like Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi will face a more pronounced drop in temperature.
The Meteorological Department has announced the end of the dry winter, as the incoming westerly winds will bring rain and snowfall in multiple regions, including Quetta, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned that snowfall in mountainous areas may affect traffic. Meanwhile, fog is expected to persist in southern Punjab, potentially affecting morning commutes.
