US congressional Democrats have released a fresh batch of photographs from the estate of the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The newly disclosed images include photos of Epstein seated alongside renowned linguist and public intellectual Noam Chomsky on a plane.
House Oversight Committee Democrats on Tuesday released 68 new photographs connected to Jeffrey Epstein. The disclosure is part of an ongoing congressional review of material produced by Epstein’s estate.
The images come just days after 19 other photographs, including pictures of former US President Donald Trump, were made public by the committee.
Images show Epstein with Noam Chomsky
Two of the newly released photographs show Epstein sitting next to Noam Chomsky, the 97-year-old American academic, aboard an aircraft.
According to the BBC, Chomsky has previously appeared in Epstein-related documents, including correspondence involving academic or personal matters.
Chomsky earlier told the Wall Street Journal that Epstein had helped him move money between accounts. He stressed that the arrangement did not involve “one penny from Epstein”.
Other notable items in photo release
The newly released images also include a photograph of a Ukrainian passport, a picture of Bill Gates posing with a woman whose face was redacted, and a screenshot of text messages discussing the sending of girls.
House Oversight Democrats did not provide additional context for these materials but confirmed they are part of the broader estate records.
Several photos show handwritten messages on parts of a person’s body. The writing appears to quote passages from Lolita, the controversial novel by Vladimir Nabokov.
A copy of the book is visible in the background of one of the images released by the committee.
House Oversight Committee Democrats said they are currently reviewing more than 95,000 images produced by Epstein’s estate.
The committee has gradually released selected material, saying the process is aimed at transparency and public accountability.
In July, the US Justice Department stated that it found no evidence to justify investigating third parties in the Epstein case.
The department also said it uncovered no “client list”, no proof of sex trafficking involving others, and no evidence that Epstein had blackmailed individuals.
