Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday remarked that education is key pillar for the purpose of nation-building.
He made these remarks while chairing an important meeting of the Board of Trustees of Danish University in Islamabad.
Welcoming the chairman and members of the board, PM extended his best wishes and said their efforts would play a vital role in spreading the light of knowledge.
Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister directed that Danish University should place special emphasis on the promotion of technology and modern disciplines while instructing that the university should focus on high-quality research.
In addition, he said a comprehensive strategy be formulated for the recruitment of top-tier faculty while emphasizing that contractors with a strong reputation and proven experience should be pre-qualified for the construction of the university.
PM issued clear instructions regarding student admissions, stressing that talented and deserving students from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir should be given special opportunities. He further directed that an awareness campaign about Danish University be launched in government schools across the country.
During the briefing, participants were informed that a Project Management Unit for Danish University has already been established, while the university’s charter has been approved by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
The charter will now be sent to the cabinet and parliament for final approval. It was also shared that a nationwide outreach program is being launched for Danish University, with Centers of Excellence aligned with modern requirements to be established in the initial phase.
According to the briefing, pre-admission training camps will be organized for deserving students from across the country. Renowned international education experts have also been contacted to help shape the university’s academic vision.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, the chairman and members of the Danish University Board of Trustees, and senior government officials.
