The transporters ended their strike after concluding negotiations with the Punjab government.
Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb held discussions with representatives of the transport sector, and both sides reached agreement on the principal points. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz constituted a high-level committee to address the difficulties raised by the transporters, with Marriyum Aurangzeb appointed to lead it.
The committee’s first sitting will take place tomorrow in the presence of Marriyum Aurangzeb and the transporters’ representatives.
The committee will be headed by Marriyum Aurangzeb, while the transporters’ representatives have been included as members. The committee’s inaugural meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, with Marriyum Aurangzeb and the transporters’ representatives in attendance.
Moreover, the central president of the Goods Transport Alliance and other office-bearers signed the conciliatory resolution. Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that the issues would be resolved through mutual understanding, adding that the government’s purpose is the protection of human life and the provision of improved conditions for citizens.
Other transport representatives taking part in the negotiation process included Muhammad Riaz Khan Tajik, Chaudhry Maqbool Hussain, Rana Tariq Mushtaq, Malik Ijaz, Malik Maroof, Saif Shah Deen Gujar, Faisal Basheer Bhatti, Malik Javed and Haji Pervaiz Awan.
