Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said on Thursday that the punishment awarded to Faiz Hameed was a 'historic' decision.
Speaking in Chiniot, the former foreign minister said that, while serving as the prime minister, PTI founder Imran Khan issued threats under the intoxication of power. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had been targeted, adding that whatever Imran Khan was now facing amounted to the consequences of his own actions.
The PPP chairman said that Faiz Hameed had also violated his duties under the influence of power, though he still retained the right of appeal. Bhutto-Zardari said he had come to offer condolences to Hassan Murtaza.
He stated that no decision had yet been taken on governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The former foreign minister said that the public was suffering economic hardship.
The PPP chairman said that when the PDM assumed office, the country was close to default. He said that Shehbaz Sharif’s team had confronted that difficult situation.
Bhutto-Zardari maintained that some foreign investment had indeed arrived, adding that the 27th Amendment had established a constitutional court.
He said that the government had sought changes to the NFC Award, which had been blocked, and counted this as their success. He said that, regarding the 28th Amendment, no contact had yet been made with them.
He maintained that every year the FBR failed to meet its target.
