Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has welcomed the verdict against former DG ISI Lt. Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, calling it a victory of truth and justice.
He emphasized that the army’s self-accountability system is robust and that legal action is taken against those who cross the “red line.”

Speaking on the verdict, the minister said that the decision was based on evidence and that Faiz Hameed, who also served as a political advisor to PTI, misused his authority. He stressed that:

Faiz Hameed was given a full opportunity to defend himself and present witnesses

The trial thoroughly recorded all testimonies and evidence before reaching a verdict

The outcome shows that no one is above the law
Tarar added that legal action is taken against anyone who crosses institutional red lines and that further investigations into political matters involving the former ISI chief will continue.
Faiz Hameed convicted on all charges
According to the Pakistan Army’s ISPR, Faiz Hameed was tried on four charges:

Engaging in political activities while in military service

Violating the Official Secrets Act, compromising state security

Misuse of authority and government resources

Causing wrongful loss to individuals
After a 15-month-long Field General Court Martial process, he was found guilty on all charges and sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment, pronounced on December 11, 2025.
The ISPR stated that the court martial complied with all legal provisions. Faiz Hameed was provided with all legal rights, including the choice of defense team, and retains the right to appeal at the relevant forum.
The army added that Faiz Hameed’s involvement in political provocation and destabilization, in collaboration with political elements, is being investigated separately.
