The London High Court has delivered a landmark verdict against Adil Raja, declaring his statements about alleged meetings, Punjab elections, and regime change to be completely false and slanderous.
The court ruled in favour of Brigadier Rashid Naseer, highlighting the seriousness of spreading misinformation from abroad.
The High Court labeled Adil Raja a liar, stating that his allegations were baseless and intended for character assassination. The court ordered Raja to pay £50,000 in damages and £260,000 as interim legal costs immediately.
Mandatory public notice
In addition to monetary penalties, Adil Raja is required to post a summary of the verdict prominently across all his platforms for 28 days. Non-compliance will be considered contempt of court, with fines and imprisonment as potential consequences.
The verdict underscores the legal accountability for spreading false claims internationally, particularly those aimed at destabilizing political processes or defaming individuals. It also reinforces the importance of responsible communication and fact-checking in public discourse.
