Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 ceremony is underway at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground, bringing together some of Pakistan’s most prominent cricketing figures in a landmark moment for the sport.
The event features a special panel discussion with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, former chairman Ramiz Raja, and legendary pacer Wasim Akram.
Speaking during the session, Ramiz Raja said the ceremony marked ‘a proud moment for all Pakistanis, especially cricketers’ noting that seeing Pakistan’s flagship cricket product showcased at the home of cricket reflected the league’s growing global stature.
He added that holding PSL and IPL around the same time is a challenging situation, especially in terms of viewership and attention.
Former captain Wasim Akram said the Pakistan Super League is giving local talent significant opportunities. He added that PSL is growing bigger with every passing season. “I really enjoy the PSL and I’m looking forward to the next season,” he said.
Offering advice to the owners of new PSL teams, Akram said they should avoid questioning coaches about defeats. “If the team loses today, it will win tomorrow,” he remarked, stressing patience and support.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that the board’s vision is to make PSL the number one league in the world. He acknowledged that this mission was first started by former PCB chairman Najam Sethi.
Naqvi added that Pakistan’s national players are highly talented, and the board is focusing on developing them further. “We are upgrading the High Performance Centre with modern facilities, and work is also underway on the Karachi High Performance Centre,” he said.

“The PSL is Pakistan’s most successful sporting product,” he said, adding that the league continues to play a major role in promoting cricket worldwide. Salman Naseer highlighted that Pakistani fans enjoy the tournament immensely and confirmed that the bidding process for two new PSL teams is now open, signalling further expansion of the league.
