The Punjab government has made it clear that every operation of the Punjab Enforcement & Regulatory Authority (PERA) force will now be recorded on camera, following orders issued by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
According to details surfaced on Saturday, CM Maryam has received a full briefing on the performance, supervision, and reform measures of the PERA force. To increase transparency and effectiveness, she has ordered the prompt installation of body cameras. Special training sessions will also commence to further improve the performance of the force.
The chief minister reiterated that while the law must be applied in all circumstances, interactions with the public must remain correct, friendly, and dignified.
The Punjab CM has also ordered electric vehicles for the PERA force. She has given formal approval for the establishment of a state-of-the-art PERA Training Centre. Maryam Nawaz said that the PERA force is performing well and stressed that attention should be paid to results to build public trust and goodwill.
