A severe Cyclone Ditwah, and the resulting torrential rain caused extensive damage across Sri Lanka.
The Pakistan Navy ship PNS Saif, present at Colombo Port for the International Fleet Review 2025, moved at once to conduct humanitarian relief operations.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), PNS Saif delivered humanitarian supplies from Pakistan to Sri Lankan authorities for distribution among those affected. The relief package included basic food items, dry rations, ready-to-eat meals, first-aid kits, emergency medicines and other essential goods.
The Pakistan Navy said that additional assistance could follow, depending on conditions on the ground and the needs of local communities. The ISPR termed the timely support as a firm example of the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, expressing Pakistan’s resolve to stand with Sri Lanka in times of hardship.
