Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said that Pakistan has rejected the Indian defence minister’s remarks on Sindh as ‘unrealistic and misleading’.
He said that Pakistan remains committed to the defence of its sovereignty, national security and territorial integrity. Andrabi strongly condemned Rajnath Singh’s remarks, and said the statement on Sindh amounted to an attempt at provocation and reflected a ‘Hindutva mindset’. He said the statement carried intentions that challenged international law and state sovereignty.
The spokesperson asked the Indian leadership to avoid statements that posed a threat to regional peace and stability. He said India must focus on the protection of its minorities’ lives and property and address discriminatory practices.
The statement added that the people of India have faced state injustices, repression and violence for years. It said India must take steps for a just resolution of the longstanding Jammu and Kashmir dispute. Pakistan desires the peaceful settlement of all disputes, the foreign office maintained.
