Pakistan and the European Union conducted their 7th Strategic Dialogue in Brussels, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and EU High Representative/Vice President Kaja Kallas.
Both sides reviewed all dimensions of their relationship and reaffirmed a shared commitment to a broad-based, multidimensional partnership.
The Foreign Office said the meeting reflected positive momentum in recent engagements and demonstrated a desire to expand cooperation grounded in the UN Charter, multilateralism, and mutual respect.
Comprehensive review of Pak–EU relations
Delegations from both sides held an in-depth assessment of bilateral ties, covering political, economic, development, and security cooperation.

Officials expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved in recent months and agreed to strengthen the partnership through greater institutional engagement and practical collaboration across sectors.
Focus on trade, investment, GSP+
Both parties underscored the critical importance of expanding trade and investment, noting that enhanced economic cooperation would support sustainable growth, export diversification, job creation, mutually beneficial opportunities for both regions.
The two sides agreed to work together to create better opportunities under the EU’s GSP+ framework, an arrangement vital for Pakistan’s export access to European markets.
Regional, global issues discussed
The dialogue also provided a platform to exchange views on pressing geopolitical developments. Discussions covered South Asia and Afghanistan, the Middle East situation, and broader global affairs and emerging international trends.
Both sides emphasised the need for coordinated approaches to advance peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and beyond.
Joint commitment on climate change, global challenges
Pakistan and the EU stressed the importance of collective efforts on climate change and environmental resilience; connectivity and sustainable development; and global cooperation in line with multilateral principles.
They noted that shared strategies are essential for responding to modern challenges affecting both regions.
The two sides agreed to enhance coordination under the Strategic Engagement Plan (SEP 2019) and expand ongoing dialogues.
They also committed to identifying new, concrete avenues of cooperation in the coming years, solidifying a long-term partnership rooted in shared values and mutual benefit.
