Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan has issued his first message following the establishment of Pakistan’s Federal Constitutional Court, declaring the protection of fundamental rights as the institution’s top priority.
He emphasized transparency, public access, and unwavering adherence to constitutional supremacy.
Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan described the creation of the Federal Constitutional Court as an important milestone in Pakistan’s constitutional struggle. He said the step renews the nation’s collective commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law.
According to him, the court has been entrusted with a “very important and delicate duty” that directly affects the lives, freedoms, and aspirations of citizens.
Pledge of transparency, independence, honesty
The chief justice assured that the Constitution will be interpreted with transparency, independence, and honesty.
He stressed that every matter brought before the court will be handled with extraordinary caution and fairness, guided by the supremacy of the Constitution, principles of justice, and judicial dignity.
He noted that transparency and public access are central goals, calling them “important milestones” for the new judicial forum.
Chief Justice Aminuddin expressed his determination to establish a judicial forum that stands as a high example of impartiality, integrity, and scholarly insight.
He said the court aims to build a judicial tradition rooted in reasoned and well-founded decisions, institutional dignity, public trust
“These characteristics,” he said, “form the basis of any true constitutional court.”
Sacred trust, responsibility for future generations
Calling the court’s role “a sacred trust”, the chief justice said it extends beyond judicial authority and carries immense responsibility.
He added that it is an honour for him to contribute to laying the foundation of this historic institution as its first chief justice.
He expressed his heartfelt wish that the Federal Constitutional Court will continue to serve as a guardian of constitutional supremacy and a symbol of justice and fairness for all future generations.
Concluding his message, he prayed for wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to the Constitution: “May Allah Almighty grant us the ability to discharge our duties with integrity and sincerity.”
