Pakistan Peoples Party has confirmed that steps to remove the incumbent Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti are underway.
PPP Parliamentary Secretary Liaquat Lehri, while confirming the move to replace the Balochistan chief minister, said the party is aiming to bring in a new face - someone capable of addressing the long-standing issues of Balochistan.
He added that the majority within the party supports the change in leadership while also confirming that the next chief minister will also be from the Pakistan Peoples Party.
Lehri added that a majority of their members want the chief minister removed, and they want someone else from the party to take over and bring the province’s worsening situation under control.
The decision regarding the new chief minister will be made by the party leadership, he added, saying that whoever the party nominates for the position will be accepted.
He further said that their priority is Balochistan and its people. “The chief minister conveyed certain things to the leadership, but the ground realities are entirely different. We have presented the actual situation before the leadership, and whatever decision the leadership makes, we will fully support it, he added.”
Meanwhile, senior PML-N leader and Senator Mir Dostain Khan Domki has claimed that a decision has been made to remove Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti due to poor governance in the province.
Speaking to SAMAA News, Domki said the PPP has begun consultations for the name of the new chief minister and that an in-house change will take place.
