The suicide bomber who detonated himself outside the Islamabad courthouse has been identified, with investigators confirming his link to Afghanistan.
Security sources say the attacker’s facilitator has also been arrested during a search operation. The development comes as authorities uncover wider Afghan connections in recent terror incidents.
Sources add that the individual who facilitated the bomber has been traced to Bajaur. The facilitator was identified during a search operation and was arrested on the basis of information provided by suspects detained earlier this morning.
Facilitator traced, arrested
Security officials confirmed that the facilitator played an active role in helping the attacker reach the courthouse vicinity. His arrest is considered a key breakthrough in the investigation.
Authorities say the search operations will continue as teams look for additional links and support networks that enabled the attack.
Terrorists in Wana college attack Afghan nationals
In a related development, security sources revealed that all terrorists who carried out the assault on Cadet College Wana were Afghan citizens. The attack, they said, was planned inside Afghanistan.
The final order to execute the assault was issued by TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud, according to the sources. Throughout the operation, the militants reportedly followed instructions relayed from Afghanistan.
Security sources further disclosed that the attack was originally planned by a terrorist named Zahid. After the operation, the responsibility for the assault was claimed by the militant outfit Jaish-ul-Hind, acting on the orders of Noor Wali Mehsud.
Officials say these findings highlight a coordinated pattern of cross-border planning, remote guidance, and execution of terrorist activities.
