The Punjab Transport Department has doubled the price of the T-Cash card, used for traveling on mass transit systems across the province, including Lahore.
The move has drawn concern from daily commuters who say the new charges add unnecessary financial burden.
According to the department, a delivery fee of Rs130 has now been imposed on the existing Rs130 card, bringing the total cost of the T-Cash card to Rs260.
Officials confirmed that the public will be required to pay both the base price and the new delivery charges, effectively doubling the expense for every commuter purchasing a T-Cash card.
This fee adjustment means that passengers who rely on the metro bus, Orange Line train, and other mass transit systems across Punjab will have to bear the extra cost directly, as the delivery fee has been passed on to users instead of being absorbed by the department.
Commuters across Punjab affected
The change impacts daily travelers in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and other cities using the provincial mass transit network. For thousands of working-class passengers who depend on these services for affordable transportation, the new price hike increases commuting costs amid rising inflation.
