The Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) has announced the results of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for students from Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to the results, 4,086 students who scored 55% or higher have been declared eligible for admission to MBBS programs, while 4,598 students with 50% or above are eligible for admission to dental colleges.
A total of 6,229 students registered for the MDCAT exam, out of which 5,895 appeared, while 334 students were absent.
Only 76 students score above 170 marks
The results show that only 76 students managed to score more than 170 marks out of 180, reflecting the tough competition and high standards of the test.
Meanwhile, 344 students scored between 160 and 169 marks, 550 scored between 150 and 159, and 592 secured marks between 140 and 149.
Additionally, 570 students scored between 130 and 139 marks, and 652 students managed to get between 120 and 129 marks. A total of 1,296 students scored only 89 marks out of 180, according to the official results released by SZABMU.
This year’s MDCAT examination, conducted under SZABMU’s supervision, tested thousands of students across Islamabad, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan aspiring to join medical and dental colleges. Officials noted that the MDCAT was completed successfully despite the large number of candidates, reflecting the increasing interest in medical education in Pakistan.
Provisional MDCAT results for Sindh
Separately, the SIBA Testing Service (STS) also released the provisional MDCAT results for Sindh. The examination was held on October 26 across nine cities and 10 centers, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Mirpurkhas, and Larkana.
According to STS, the results have been uploaded on its official website, and candidates can submit objections regarding their results until 5pm on November 1 by emailing sts@iba-suk.edu.pk. Officials clarified that no complaints will be accepted after the deadline.
As per policy, 55% marks are required for MBBS admissions and 50% for BDS, consistent with the standards applied by SZABMU.
