Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson has confirmed that the national team’s leading batter, Babar Azam, will bat at number three in the upcoming T20I home series against South Africa, which begins on October 28 (Tuesday).
Hesson was of the view that the series would provide an opportunity to test different options ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. He added that Mohammad Haris has been given several opportunities but has yet to make the most of them and still requires improvement.
The coach praised Pakistan wicket-keeper-batter Usman Khan for his strong batting against spin bowling. Reflecting on the team’s performance in the Asia Cup final, Hesson expressed disappointment over the defeat and highlighted the need for improvement across various areas.
Hesson advised that players who are dropped should concentrate on domestic cricket to regain form. He termed Usman Tariq as a talented spin bowler and emphasised that Fakhar Zaman must work on his first-class game.
