Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor delivered an emotional address during a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) press conference in Italy, revealing that he has undergone a deep personal and spiritual transformation.
Speaking publicly for the first time since receiving an 18-month suspension for missing anti-doping tests last year, McGregor described the past year as one of the toughest of his life — but one that ultimately brought him closer to faith and family.
Fighting back tears, McGregor said his recent struggles led him toward faith, which helped him heal mentally and spiritually.
“I am not here by chance. There is a higher power, God, that dictates my journey and all of our journeys. And I live my life by God’s word now. I am saved. I am healed,” he told the audience.
The MMA superstar emphasized that a higher power guided him through pain and personal challenges, giving him strength to rebuild himself both as an athlete and as a person.
Renewed passion for fighting
McGregor — who also serves as a part-owner of BKFC — expressed that his competitive fire has reignited stronger than ever.
“My competitive spark that was once a small flame is now a roaring blaze. I’ve gone inward, found myself again, and I’m ready to show what I’m about,” he shared.
He credited his fiancée and children for keeping him motivated and grounded throughout his recovery journey.
Support from BKFC leadership
BKFC co-owner David Feldman praised McGregor for the positive steps he’s taken, noting the fighter’s efforts to make difficult but necessary changes in his life.
Feldman’s comments echoed the growing sentiment among fans that McGregor’s renewed focus could mark the beginning of a powerful comeback era.
McGregor’s suspension remains in effect until 2026, but his emotional speech and renewed determination indicate that he plans to return to the UFC once eligible.
His transformation — from a troubled phase to one of faith and resilience — suggests that fans may witness a more focused and spiritually grounded Conor McGregor when he finally steps back into the octagon.
