Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted a dinner in honour of the South African and Pakistan cricket teams in Islamabad.
According to details surfaced on Saturday, the premier welcomed the visiting South African players to Pakistan and met with members of the national team.
The prime minister expressed confidence in the capabilities of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. He said that cricket is not merely a sport but a means of connecting people across nations.
Referring to the bilateral relationship, he said Pakistan and South Africa enjoy strong ties on many levels, with cricket forming an important part of this bond. He maintained that the forthcoming Pakistan–South Africa series represents a symbol of deep sporting relations and mutual respect.
The prime minister acknowledged South Africa’s contribution to world cricket, saying the country had produced great players. He also praised Pakistani cricketers for enhancing the nation’s reputation through their performance on the global stage.
He expressed hope that the Pakistan team would continue to deliver excellent performances as in the past and conveyed his best wishes to players from both sides.
PM Shehbaz emphasised that the true spirit of cricket promotes friendship and peace and called for maintaining the essence of the game.
