According to official documents, the prime minister made 34 foreign visits between March 2024 and October 2025, while the president undertook three trips during the same period. Both leaders visited China multiple times, reflecting the country’s continued strategic importance to Pakistan’s foreign policy.
President Asif Ali Zardari made two official visits to China and one to Turkmenistan during 2024 and 2025, documents show. The president’s trips focused primarily on strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing economic and energy partnerships.
Similarly, China was also among the key destinations for Prime Minister Sharif, who visited the country twice as part of efforts to deepen trade, infrastructure, and investment ties under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.
PM's frequent diplomatic engagements
The documents reveal that Saudi Arabia topped the list of foreign visits made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with a total of eight trips between 2024 and 2025. These visits were aimed at bolstering Pakistan’s economic cooperation, labor exports, and energy partnerships with the Kingdom.
The PM also made two official visits each to China, the United States, and Egypt, reflecting Pakistan’s balanced diplomatic engagement across key global partners.
He represented Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) twice, where he highlighted Pakistan’s stance on climate change, regional peace, and economic reforms.
Broad regional and global outreach
Beyond the major powers, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s travels included visits to Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, and Azerbaijan (Baku), focusing on energy collaboration, trade expansion, and regional connectivity.
He also visited Turkiye, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom, reaffirming Pakistan’s diplomatic and economic ties with both regional allies and Western partners.
Officials noted that the extensive travel record reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s global partnerships and advancing its economic and diplomatic agenda.
