More than 70 foreign militants were killed in a precise strike on the hideouts of the Gul Bahadur group in Afghanistan’s Paktika region on the night of 17 October, according to security sources.
The security sources said that key figures within the group were among the dead. The Gul Bahadur group has been involved in several major terrorist attacks in Pakistan. On October 17, the same group attempted an attack in North Waziristan, which failed. That incident claimed the lives of three women, two children and one man.
Security sources reported that senior militant commander Farman, also known as Al-Karama, was among those killed in the confirmed strikes. Others killed included Sadiqullah Dawar, Ghazi Madakhel, Muqarrab and Qismatullah. Additional commanders Gulab, known as Deewana, Rahmani, Adil and Fazlur Rehman were also killed. Fazlur Rehman was a close relative of Gul Bahadur.
Sources added that Ashiqullah, known as Kausar, and Yunus were also among those killed. All were considered key figures in the Gul Bahadur network. Their elimination marks a significant success, security sources said.
