India’s Abhishek Sharma has received the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for September 2025, following a series of standout performances at the Asia Cup.
The 25-year-old finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer, with 314 runs in seven T20 Internationals. He recorded an average of 44.85 and a strike rate of 200, including three half-centuries. He also received the Player of the Tournament award.
Sharma contributed 75 runs against Pakistan during the group stage and 74 against Bangladesh in an earlier match. Apart from the final, he scored 30 runs or more in each game.
In the semi-final against Sri Lanka, Sharma’s composed innings guided India to the final. His efforts helped him reach a career-high 931 points in the ICC Men’s T20I Batter Rankings, overtaking Dawid Malan’s previous best of 919 set in 2020.
The Indian opener expressed satisfaction at the recognition and said he valued the contribution of the team. He also thanked the team management and selection panel.
Sharma’s consistent form and confident approach have drawn attention across the cricketing world. He was selected ahead of fellow nominees Kuldeep Yadav and Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett.
