The Pakistan Army has killed 37 terrorists in two separate operations carried out in Mohmand District and Abakhel, security sources said.
According to details surfaced on Wednesday, in Mohmand, the army responded promptly to an infiltration attempt from the Turkmanzai border area. 30 members of the Khawarij group, who were part of an organised formation, were killed. The group was sent to launch terrorist activities in the region.
According to security sources, the Afghan Taliban attempted to send a large formation into Mohmand with the support of the Khawarij. The Pakistan Army thwarted the move through timely action. The army's decisive response forced the Afghan Taliban to rely on the Khawarij group for such operations.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Abakhel, North Waziristan, seven more Khawarij were killed on 14 October. Security sources confirmed that the terrorists were targeted while preparing to carry out a planned attack in the area.
The Pakistan Army and security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism from the country.
