The second day of the ongoing first Test match between Pakistan and South Africa has concluded, with South Africa reaching 216 for 6 in response to Pakistan’s first-innings total of 378, leaving the visitors trailing by 162 runs.
South African captain Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton opened the innings. Markram managed to score 20 runs, while Rickelton played a solid innings of 71. Vian Mulder contributed 17 runs, Tristan Stubbs made 8, and Dewald Brevis was dismissed without scoring. Tony de Zorzi top-scored with a fighting 81, while Senuran Muthusamy remained unbeaten on 6 runs at stumps.
From Pakistan’s bowling side, Nauman Ali bowled brilliantly, claiming multiple key wickets, while Sajid Khan and Agha Salman picked up one wicket each to keep South Africa under pressure.

Earlier, Pakistan, who had won the toss and elected to bat first, were all out for 378 runs on the second day. Both Imam-ul-Haq and Agha Salman missed out on centuries, each scoring 93 runs, while captain Shan Masood made 76, and Mohammad Rizwan added an impressive 75.
For South Africa, Senuran Muthusamy led the bowling attack, taking 6 wickets, while Prenelan Subrayen claimed 2, and Kagiso Rabada and Simon Harmer took one wicket each.
At the close of play, Pakistan held a commanding position with a strong first-innings total and early breakthroughs, setting up an intriguing third day ahead.
