Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has arrived in the United States on an official six-day visit. He is scheduled to attend more than 65 events, forums, ceremonies and meetings.
According to details surfaced on Sunday, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and other members of the economic team were accompanying him. The Pakistani delegation will participate in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
The finance minister will meet officials of the IMF, World Bank and International Finance Corporation. Meetings are also scheduled with representatives of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency and the President of the World Bank, Ajay Banga.
Moreover, Aurangzeb will attend a dinner hosted by the President of the World Bank. He will also hold a meeting with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. He is set to participate in a regional roundtable organised by the World Bank on the digital transformation of the Federal Board of Revenue, and in two major events of the World Economic Forum.
Aurangzeb will meet his counterparts from China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Azerbaijan. Meetings will also be held with the chairman of the US Congressional Financial Services Committee, officials from the US Departments of State and Treasury, the International Development Finance Corporation, the US-Pakistan Business Council and other senior officials.
The finance minister will give interviews to selected international and US media outlets. He will also meet officials from global credit rating agencies and representatives of commercial banks, including investment banks from the Middle East.
