The visa issue involving the Afghanistan football team has been resolved on Wednesday.
The team is expected to arrive in Islamabad by 7 pm tonight to take part in the AFC Asian Cup qualifier. The match between Pakistan and Afghanistan is scheduled to take place at 2 pm tomorrow.
Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Mohsin Gilani thanked the Government of Pakistan for the timely arrangements. He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), and the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) for their cooperation.
Earlier, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi took notice of the visa delay and directed that visas be issued promptly. According to sources, visas were granted following the completion of biometric procedures.
PFF sources confirmed that the match will proceed as per schedule.
