Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's official visit to Malaysia concluded with a joint declaration outlining a renewed commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
Both countries agreed to expand cooperation in trade, investment, and defence, while reaffirming mutual respect, economic partnership, and support for the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
Malaysia indicated an intention to increase palm oil exports to Pakistan. Both sides reached consensus on maintaining a sustainable and environmentally responsible supply chain. Cooperation in the halal industry will be enhanced through the development of a strengthened mutual certification system.
The two prime ministers also agreed to increase collaboration in the fields of education, health, tourism, energy and artificial intelligence. Further partnership will be pursued in technical and vocational training, air connectivity, culture and agriculture.
It was agreed that high-level engagements would be held on a regular basis to provide strategic direction to bilateral cooperation. A decision was taken to reconvene the Joint Commission meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers.
According to the joint statement, the Malaysia–Pakistan Closer Economic Partnership Agreement (MPCEPA) will be implemented effectively. The declaration underscored a shared commitment to long-term collaboration in multiple sectors.
Defence ties will be promoted under the existing Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation. Both governments agreed to continue collaboration on cybersecurity, counter-terrorism and organised crime, including the exchange of information and expertise. Opportunities for joint investment in alternative energy and climate change projects will be explored.
The two countries strongly condemned the ongoing genocide in Gaza and welcomed the appointment of a Special Envoy on Islamophobia at the United Nations.
On his return, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif thanked the Government of Malaysia for its hospitality.
