President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday paid glowing tributes to teachers on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day.
Both leaders underscored that teaching is not merely a profession but a sacred duty, emphasising that teachers serve as the true nation builders who enlighten generations despite challenges.
In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari lauded the unwavering dedication of teachers serving both in rural and urban areas, saying that their contribution in keeping the “candle of knowledge burning” under difficult conditions makes them the real capital of the nation.
He said that in the modern era, teachers’ roles have become more significant than ever, calling for digital resources and modern training to help them adapt to new educational challenges.
“Respect and esteem for teachers is the collective responsibility of the nation,” he added.
PM Shehbaz Sharif: “Teachers are foundation of progress”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, described teachers as the backbone of national development and the foundation upon which a country’s intellectual and practical strength is built.
He said this year’s World Teachers’ Day theme, “Teaching as Mutual Cooperation and a Common Profession,” highlights the need for harmony and collaboration in the global education system.
The prime minister also emphasized that teachers, parents, and society share a joint responsibility in the education and upbringing of the younger generation.
Govt’s commitment to teachers’ welfare
Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s resolve to prioritize the economic well-being, professional development, and rights protection of teachers.
He noted that modernizing educational institutions with new technology and improving working conditions for educators are among the top government priorities.
“I pay my deepest tribute to all teachers on behalf of the government and the people,” he added, calling teachers “the true architects of a nation’s destiny.”
